Grant Sharkey (19:30 - 20:00)
Grant Sharkey has never been afraid to help out on stage. In the past he has played on live television and done a little presenting on Channel Five all adding up to a guy who knows how to speak under pressure and bring the audience to his side of the fence. In addition to this, his quick wit, skewed outlook on life and his ability to improvise with an audience and still remain entertaining has resulted in the intelligent, thought provoking comedian he is today. |

The play is part of the University of Winchester 3 Plays Project headed by lecturer Glenn Fosbracy. Sam Howard (17:00 - 17:20)
Hi... my names Sam Howard and I'm 19 years old... I have been interested in magic tricks all of my life really and been trying to perform magic since I was about six, love card tricks and mind reading and all that jazz, also was really into comedy from an early age and started to love political comedy more and more, and surreal political comedy and making fun out of the mundane.
When it comes to stand up comedy I have performed with the Late train comedy circus at the railway Pub in Winchester, at Winchester student unions "vault" venue and at the road trip bar in London. Oh and I performed at the Hatfair with DotComedy in Stompy's comedy show called the chain! Not quite stand up but still, hilarious! I also did a bit of street stand up with a company I co-founded called "three guys plus a girl minus a guy" productions.

Charlie Gheery's Vanilla Life in Hell (16:05 - 16:40)
Charlie Gheery's Vanilla Life in Hell is the first coherent attempt at playwriting by James D. Irwin. Irwin was born in Swindon at a young age, and now lives in Winchester at a slightly older age. During the twenty-one years between these two events Irwin has mastered a rudimentary grasp of literacy, which has enabled him to write this play.
The play follows the eponymous Charlie Gheery as he navigates through the afterlife in search of this girl that he kind of likes. He's guided by the mysterious stranger John Virgil, in a loose allusion to Dante's Divine Comedy.
Along the way they meet the Lord, infamous killer Ed Gein, a hapless salesman, and devastating truths about reality.
Part fish-out-of water tale, part adventure story, part rom-com Charlie Gheery's Vanilla Life in Hell has something for everyone.

rewan Tremethick (15:45 - 16:05)
With his first foray into comedy on behalf of Comic Relief, so far Rewan has more sidled past the comedy scene than exploded onto it. With only a smattering of gigs under his belt, Rewan is looking forward to using Ejectorseat Arts festival to find new audiences. Rewan can currently be seen at Winchester's Late Train Comedy Night, held monthly at The Railway Inn, where he is a regular performer. He recently headlined the Student Union Radio Society Fundraiser at the University of Winchester. |
Ben Lawrence (15:25 - 15:45)
Ben Lawrence came first in the 3rd Reading Poetry Slam on 20 March 2011 at the Global Café in Reading. It was his first ever Slam. Ben has taken part in a workshop run by apples & snakes called Spring which was taken by Steve Tasane and based at the School Creative in Rye. It ended with a show with open mic and performances from him and the 4 other 'budding young performance poets'.
Ben is quite new to the writing scene. Having started off with circulating his performance poetry through his friends and his SoundCloud account (here), he hopes to gain notoriety one step at a time by making use of open mic events around Southampton as well as gigs at the Southampton University Comedy Society. With performances at 451 (an event held by Apples & Snakes at Southampton's Nuffield Theatre) and at the Southampton University Cultural Appreciation Society, under his belt, Ben is optimistic that a performance at the Ejector Seat Arts Festival will give his writer's resume that extra element of 'je ne sais quoi'.
David Blackbourn - Acoustic Artist (15:05-15:25) www.myspace.com/ricwharton
aving played guitar from the age of 15 and always made up songs in his head, David started playing in front of people for the first time at about 17, and since has played solo or with a drummer, at various shows around Bournemouth, Southampton and Winchester. Using music as a mirror, suggesting it should be a reflection of self, not just mass produced noise. “It's a kinda catharsis I guess, just shouting about things I don't understand, really!” David Blackbourn is currently studying creative writing at the University of Winchester. |

With their first album due for release this summer come and get a taste of their live performance.
James Farrant, age 35, has been writing songs and performing for 20 years, he continues to perform at weddings, clubs and pubs as a solo artist and in a function band. Playing guitar and singing has always been a passion and the opportunity of bringing joy to people through music is a blessing.

Christian Watson (13:05 - 13:35)
Christian Watson is a bright rising star of the South East performance poetry scene who isn't afraid to mix confession with home-spun philosophy and outright fantasy. He entertainingly rails against the vagaries of his romantic past, modern life, and the possibilities of apocalyptic futures using rhythm and rhyme to great, and sometimes hilarious, effect. Christian is also capable of entrancing an audience, drawing them in to his world and whispering truths that dare not be told into their eager ears.
I would say Christian is one third poet, one third entertainer and one third tall.

Matt Crisp's 'Strange to Stranger' (12:40 - 12:55)
Robert and Mikey are two strangers who meet on a London underground platform. When Mikey tries to start up a conversation, Robert is quick to show his disinterest. Yet Mikey relentlessly perseveres, and what starts out as irritation on Robert's behalf soon turns to empathy for the other man as he realises they have more in common than he thought.
'Strange to Stranger' explores the unique relationship between strangers which the majority of Brits have experienced at some point; that one person who sits next to you and drives you to frustration and makes you feel incredibly uncomfortable. But what this piece demonstrates is the possibility that if we let down the barriers around us and listen, then maybe we'll find that the person who you wish would just leave you alone is in fact the person you need the most.
Anthony Fairweather (12:20 - 12:40)
Anthony Fairweather is a performance poet and satirical singer. "Anthony Fairweather, a poetry slam champion has a speech impairment but can give Eminem competition once he starts rhyming." - Sherwin Coelho, Bournemouth Daily Echo
